We use as few cookies as possible. Here's exactly what's set and why.
Last updated: March 2026
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners.
Penwork uses a minimal number of cookies. We do not use cookies for user tracking, building advertising profiles, or selling data. Below is a full list of cookies that may be set when you use Penwork.
The following cookies may be present on your device after visiting Penwork:
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
theme | Penwork | Remembers your light / dark / system theme preference | Functional | 1 year |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique users for aggregate traffic analysis | Analytics | 2 years |
NID, DSID, IDE | Google AdSense | Used to show relevant advertisements and measure ad performance | Advertising | Up to 2 years |
CONSENT | Stores your cookie consent choice for Google services | Functional | 2 years |
This list may not be exhaustive. Third-party services (Google Fonts, AdSense) may set additional cookies beyond our control.
The theme cookie is strictly functional — it stores your display preference (light, dark, or system) so you don't have to re-select it every visit. This cookie does not track you across sites and contains no personal data.
Functional cookies cannot be disabled without breaking the theme switching feature.
We may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage — such as which pages are visited most and how users navigate the site. This data is anonymised and used only to improve Penwork. We do not share analytics data with advertisers.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Penwork is a free service supported by advertising. Google AdSense may set cookies to show you ads that are relevant to your interests. These cookies track browsing activity across websites that use Google advertising services.
You can manage your ad personalisation preferences at adssettings.google.com, or opt out of interest-based advertising via the NAI opt-out tool.
Most browsers allow you to view, block, and delete cookies through their settings. Here's how for common browsers:
Note: blocking cookies may affect your experience — for example, your theme preference will not be saved between visits.
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. We respect DNT signals where technically feasible. However, third-party services like Google AdSense have their own DNT policies.
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of Penwork constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
